Privacy Policy

Who we are

This Privacy Policy describes how Datajet Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 97 640 294 293) (“Datajet”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, holds, uses and discloses personal information.

We sell Australian (and some New Zealand) business marketing datasets on a one-time purchase basis from datajet.com.au. We also operate this website, process orders, answer enquiries and maintain customer records.

This policy is intended to be read with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If there is any conflict, the law wins.

Two types of information we deal with

It helps to split this cleanly.

  1. Customer information
Personal information about people who visit our website, request a quote or sample, open a free trial, purchase data, or otherwise deal with us as a customer or prospect.

  2. Marketing contact databases (our products)
Contact information that appears in the datasets we compile and sell — for example business names, addresses, phones, emails, websites, job titles and related business details. Much of this may be personal information about individuals listed in a business capacity. These records are sourced from publicly available sources. They are not “opt-in” marketing lists.

The rest of this policy covers both.

What customer information we collect

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

  • name, business name, email address, phone number, postal or street address

  • enquiry details, quote history and products you have looked at or purchased

  • payment and transaction details (handled by third-party processors — we do not store full card numbers)

  • free trial / sample download details

  • website usage information (pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location, referral source, session data and similar analytics)

  • any other information you send us by email, form, phone or message

We collect this most of the time directly from you. We may also receive some of it through our store, CRM, analytics tools or payment providers when you buy or enquire.

What is in our marketing contact databases

Our product databases may include, where available:

  • organisation and trading names, ABN/ACN details and business status

  • street and postal addresses, phones, faxes and websites

  • business email addresses

  • contact names and job titles / roles where publicly available

  • employee size, industry classifications and related business descriptors

  • deliverability / risk indicators derived from verification processes

How we source product data

We compile product data from publicly available sources. That includes business registries and public business records (for example ABR and ASIC material), public directories and other publicly published business information. We do not supply data sourced from data breaches, hacks or leaked consumer databases.

Email addresses in our files are run through commercial verification tools for deliverability. Undeliverable addresses are stripped where practical. Verification improves bounce rates — it is not the same as permission to market.

Our product emails are not sold as opted-in lists. They come from public sources. Buyers remain responsible for how they use the data, including the Spam Act 2003, Do Not Call rules where they apply, and any other Australian law that covers their campaign.

Why we use personal information

Customer information is used to:

  • respond to enquiries, quotes and support requests

  • process and deliver orders and free samples

  • issue invoices and keep accounting records

  • maintain our CRM and customer history

  • improve the website, products and services

  • send product or service communications related to your enquiry or purchase (you can ask us to stop marketing emails at any time)

  • meet legal, tax and record-keeping obligations

  • detect fraud or misuse of the site or store

Product database information is held and used to:

  • build, maintain, verify and update marketing datasets

  • supply datasets to paying customers under our sales terms

  • produce samples, custom extracts and quotes

  • quality-check and enrich records using public sources and verification tools

Who we share information with

We do not sell customer lists as a separate product. We may disclose personal information to:

  • payment processors and store operators (for example PayPal, Stripe, Ecwid)

  • website and hosting providers (for example Squarespace)

  • CRM, email and analytics tools we use to run the business (for example HubSpot, Google Analytics, Mailsuite or similar)

  • email verification and related technical service providers

  • professional advisers (accountants, lawyers, insurers)

  • anyone you ask us to share with

  • regulators, courts or others where the law requires or permits it

When a customer purchases a product database, they receive a copy of that dataset. From that point, use of the data is their responsibility under our terms of sale and applicable law. We are not responsible for what a buyer does with the file after delivery.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers host or process data outside Australia (commonly the United States or Europe, depending on the tool). By using our site or buying from us, you acknowledge that information may be processed overseas via those providers. We take reasonable steps to deal with reputable services, but overseas laws differ from Australian law.

Cookies and website analytics

Our site may use cookies and similar technologies for basic site function, analytics and improving performance. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect site features (for example the store).

How we hold and protect information

We hold information in electronic systems (including CRM, email, cloud storage, store platforms and local business systems). Access is limited to what is needed to run the business. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

How long we keep information

Customer records (orders, invoices, enquiries) are kept for as long as needed for the business relationship, tax and legal record-keeping, and resolving disputes. Product databases are maintained and refreshed as part of ongoing operations. When we no longer need personal information, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it, subject to legal retention requirements.

Access, correction and complaints

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Write to info@datajet.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time. There may be situations where we cannot provide access (for example where the request would unreasonably impact other people’s privacy, or where the information does not exist in a retrievable customer record). If we refuse, we will explain why where we reasonably can.

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at info@datajet.com.au so we can try to fix it. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC): oaic.gov.au.

Important note for people whose details appear in product databases

If your business contact details appear in a Datajet product dataset because they were published in a public source, those details may have been collected other than directly from you. Our usual purposes for holding them are compiling, verifying and licensing marketing databases for business use. If you want your details corrected or removed from future product builds where practical, email info@datajet.com.au with enough information for us to identify the record. We will take reasonable steps, subject to publicly available source material and operational constraints. Removing a record from future builds does not erase copies already sold to customers.

Your responsibilities if you buy our data

If you purchase data from us:

  • you are responsible for using it lawfully, including the Spam Act 2003 and any telemarketing rules that apply to your activity

  • product emails are not sold as opt-in and come from public sources

  • you should re-check email deliverability before large sends

  • you should consider DNCR obligations for consumer-facing calling where those rules apply

  • you must not claim Datajet collected the data with each listed person’s opt-in consent for your campaigns

More detail on use of purchased data sits in our terms and product pages.

Children

Our products and website are aimed at businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for product databases or for marketing.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will be published on this page with a revised “last updated” date. Continued use of the site or purchases after a change means you accept the updated policy for that use.
